The City of Kingsport has recently inaugurated a new recycling convenience center designed to provide residents with a more efficient and safer way to handle their recyclables. The new facility, stationed at 300 Industry Drive, is an upgrade from the previous center located closer to Netherland Inn Road, as reported by Kingsport's official website.

Equipped to accept a range of recyclable materials including cardboard, mixed paper, aluminum, and tin, the new center also features a zone for small amounts of construction debris. By relocating to a larger site, the city has enabled Sullivan County's recycling containers, with the addition of a Kingsport container for construction waste, to be more accessible to the public. This move, according to the city's announcement, aims at facilitating a more controlled drop-off process for their residents.

In the spirit of the holiday season, the new convenience center has extended its services to accommodate the disposal of additional holiday garbage, such as boxes, bags, and wrapping paper, from December 23 through January 4. The effort seeks to promote environmental stewardship and encourage residents to resort to recycling during the peak of the festive gift-giving season, as highlighted by the city's website.

Open from Monday to Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., the new recycling convenience center will be manned by a city employee throughout its operating hours to assist and monitor the drop-off activity. As reminded by the city, residents must adhere to the designated hours, for no items can be dropped off outside of these times. For any concerns or inquiries, individuals are directed to contact the center at 423-229-9451.

Those seeking alternative recycling options in Kingsport can still visit the established drop-off sites which include the demolition landfill at 1921 Brookside Lane, the Civic Auditorium, Sullivan Gardens Drive, and the Colonial Heights location at 101 Lakecrest Drive. The additional sites offer convenience and flexibility for individuals unable to utilize the new main facility due to scheduling or other constraints.
