A 49-year-old Lakeland man died at the scene after his 2021 Toyota Corolla LE was struck nearly head-on by a Mazda CX-9, driven by a 34-year-old Orlando man. According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Mazda, which was traveling northbound, crossed the center line and collided with the Toyota. Driving the Toyota, the deceased was found inside his vehicle late Saturday night by first responders, a tragic conclusion to what should have been an ordinary evening.
