Last Friday night, an incident escalated when a 40-year-old Lansing man crashed his vehicle into IPOT, a popular hot pot BBQ and sushi buffet, and subsequently grabbed a deputy’s gun during his arrest. According to reports from multiple sources, the episode unfolded around 10 p.m. and resulted in no injuries inside the restaurant.
According to MLive, the suspect, whose name has not been disclosed by police, crashed into the IPOT restaurant and became combative with deputies, making threats about having a bomb and firearms with him. He reportedly fought with officers and was able to obtain control of a deputy's gun, but the situation was quickly contained, and authorities recovered the weapon.
WILX reported additional details, noting that the man threatened deputies with claims of a bomb, firearms, and body armor in his car. The Eaton County Sheriff's Office believes the man was under the influence at the time of the incident. Their quick response ensured the individual was taken into custody without further incident.
