The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested five individuals in connection with the August 23rd ambush-style murder of Dr. Hamid Mirshojae outside his Woodland Hills clinic, as reported by LAPD's official newsroom. The suspects, including the doctor's 53-year-old ex-wife Ahang Mirshojae, were apprehended following an investigation that spanned multiple jurisdictions and involved cooperation with federal agencies.
On December 12th, the Los Angeles Police Department revealed that Ahang Mirshojae and another suspect, 46-year-old Shawn Randolph, were charged with murder, while a raid on Ahang's Calabasas residence was conducted, this also being confirmed by aerial footage captured by AIR7 showing several officers at the scene. Other suspects, including Evan Hardman, 41, Sarallah Jawed, 26, and Ashley Rose Sweeting, 40, face charges ranging from murder with special circumstances to being an accessory after the fact.
According to court records cited by ABC7, the motive behind the killing remains unclear, however, the investigation has brought to light a history of contention between the victim and his ex-wife; they had been embroiled in legal disputes up until as recently as April 2024. Sweeting has pled not guilty and is set to return to court on December 24th, her bail set at $1 million.
In the wake of the arrests, friends of the slain doctor shared with CBS News Los Angeles that Dr. Mirshojae had remarried and was the father of an infant daughter. Sweeping charges for the suspects indicate the gravity of the accusations involved, with Jawed and Hardman facing charges of murder for financial gain and an alleged May assault with a baseball bat against Mirshojae, illuminating a premeditated plot that culminated in fatal violence.
