A person was fatally struck by a vehicle on East Flamingo Road near Koval Lane in Las Vegas, marking the city's 149th traffic-related death of the year. The incident, which remains under investigation, was reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. last Saturday, when a 2019 Infiniti QX60, driven by 56-year-old Zhenwu Chen of Las Vegas, struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Flamingo Road, near the F1 overpass bridge, at the time of the collision. Surveillance footage and on-site evidence were used to reconstruct the events leading up to the incident, as stated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
A 34-year-old man from Farmington, New Mexico, was hit by a car and later died at Sunrise Hospital. The driver, 54-year-old Showna Chang from Arlington, Massachusetts, was not injured and stayed at the scene. Police are investigating. This is the 149th traffic death in the area this year, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
