In the quest to ensure the safety of our youngest residents, the Lewisville Police Department is offering a supportive hand. Motor vehicle injuries are a leading cause of death among children in the United States, but many of these deaths can be prevented by the proper use of car seats, booster seats, and seat belts. In response, Lewisville PD has established a monthly clinic to assist parents and guardians with child safety seat installation.
A recent social media post from the Lewisville Police Department details the service, which is available to anyone in need of guidance, regardless of their residence or place of work. "Need some help installing a new car seat? Not sure if your child is in the right one for his/her size?" implores the post, inviting the community to reach out for support. Interested parties can call 972.219.3668 to schedule an appointment.
The clinics, which are free of charge, take place on the last Monday of each month. However, appointments are necessary to keep the process orderly and efficient. Certified technicians are present at these sessions, offering to review the car seat, install it if needed, and answer any questions participants might have. It's one of the city's ways to invest in its future by protecting its youngest inhabitants.
Due to the construction of the new Tittle McFadden Public Safety Building, the Lewisville Fire Station 3, located at 500 W. Round Grove Rd., will be the new venue for the clinics. The upcoming event on December 30 marks the final opportunity this year for caretakers to ensure their children's car seats are installed correctly. The Lewisville PD reminds the community, "Our last date for the year! Dec. 30" — underlining the urgency for those yet to take advantage of this service before the new year.
