As the holiday season approaches, local city facilities will adjust their hours. In observance of Christmas and the New Year, key amenities will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, and January 1, allowing both the public and city employees to enjoy the festivities, according to the City of Galveston.
Due to holiday closures, there will be no sanitation services on Thursday and January 1, with adjusted service days: "Wednesday customers will be serviced on Thursday, and Thursday customers will be serviced on Friday." The Island Transit rail trolley will be out of service because of construction at 23rd and Postoffice, but the rubber wheel trolley will continue its regular schedule from Friday to Sunday, running from 10:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., as stated by the City of Galveston.
The McGuire Dent and Wright Cuney recreational facilities will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, and January 1 in observance of the holiday season. On December 31, these centers will close early at 6:00 P.M. for a brief pause before the New Year celebrations, as reported by the City of Galveston.
