Los Angeles fire crews responded early Thursday morning to a fire at a tire shop in the Vermont-Vista area, marking at least the second such incident at this location. According to KTLA, the blaze at the tire store on the 6900 block of South Vermont Avenue was reported shortly after 3 a.m. Firefighters faced a "well-involved" fire upon arrival but managed to extinguish the flames within 20 minutes.
The severity of the fire necessitated a defensive approach initially, meanwhile, the team of 28 firefighters was able to contain and knock down the fire quickly, as per KTLA. Details regarding the frequency of fires at this particular shop in the past were not immediately clear, however, the Los Angeles Fire Department did confirm that an arson team has been dispatched "due to previous burns at this location."
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Speculation around the tire store has grown as this is not the first time it has been engulfed in flames. The LAFD, upon successfully dousing the fire, requested the presence of their arson investigation team to scrutinize the circumstances surrounding the recurring incidents.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that "The first arriving 28 firefighters quickly extinguished the fire in 21 minutes with no injuries reported." Information about potential suspects or reasons behind the suspected arson was not provided, leaving questions about the motivations for the repeated fires unanswered.
