San Bernardino County has witnessed the arrest of three individuals, believed to be part of a string of burglaries in the region. The suspects, identified as Los Angeles residents Jerone Pennington, 28, Kwan Smith, 27, and Kenny Warren, 37, were apprehended following what started as a home burglary attempt on Friday, according to a report by KTLA.
While wearing ski masks to hide their identities, the trio allegedly attempted to burglarize a residence around 11:30 a.m. in Chino Hills. After being confronted by the homeowner, the suspects fled, setting off a chain of events that led to their pursuit and eventual capture. Officials have described them as "parolees and career criminals," according to an official release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department obtained by Nixle.
The suspects were linked to earlier burglaries in the same day, spurring an investigation that produced "actionable leads." The Los Angeles Police Department was contacted and soon located the suspect vehicle. A car chase ensued, followed by a foot pursuit, which culminated in the arrests of Pennington, Smith, and Warren. All three were taken to the Chino Hills Station for interrogation, added the Sheriff's Department statement.
Detectives carried out a search warrant on the suspect vehicle and found inside, a firearm was stolen during a residential burglary. The investigation is ongoing and aims to identify other possible burglaries associated with the suspects. Booked for multiple felonies at West Valley Detention Center, the trio now awaits further legal proceedings. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is urging anyone with information about these incidents to contact the Chino Hills Police Department or to use the We-Tip Hotline to remain anonymous.
