The Franklin County Department of Social Services is reaching out to the community, in a bid to gather donations that will brighten up the holidays for foster children; the department is working in partnership with Wal-Mart in Louisburg. A "Tree of Hope" adorned with paper ornaments stands at the store's front entrance, each ornament representing a foster child and their holiday wishes—a tangible testament to the foster care challenge this festive season.
In the spirit of giving, individuals interested in fostering joy among these children are encouraged to select an ornament from the tree, each of which details a child’s list of desires, and the community is responding, though there remains a push for more support before the donation deadline.
Sponsors who take part in this initiative should leave the unwrapped gifts at the Louisburg Wal-Mart Service Desk or directly at the DSS office on 107-A Industrial Drive, with this season of giving coming to a close as donations will be accepted until next Friday, according to the Franklin County news posting.
