An 85-year-old former custodian with the Thompson School District, Charles Littrell, was arrested and charged with indecent exposure in front of minors, the Loveland Police Department reported. This action comes after several juvenile reports claimed they witnessed Littrell exposing himself while he was employed as a custodian in a Loveland middle school bathroom. According to KDVR, the arrest was executed this Tuesday following the juveniles' allegations.
The Loveland Police Department acted to swiftly take Littrell into custody after obtaining probable cause during their investigation. As detailed by Denver 7, former custodian Littrell was booked into Larimer County Jail on a Class 6 felony charge for his alleged actions. Due to the sensitivity of the case, details remain closely held, but the charges suggest a disturbing breach of trust within the school community.
Following the reports, Littrell’s employment with the school district had been terminated before his arrest. The former custodian had an employment history extending since December 2001, working at various schools within the district. According to CBS News, his bond was set at $10,000.
Representatives from the Thompson School District have yet to release a statement regarding the incident. However, the district's Chief Communications Officer, Mike Hausmann, did confirm Littrell’s work history, having been assigned to Turner Middle School, Erwin Middle School, Monroe Elementary, and Stansberry Early Childhood at different times, as reported by Denver 7. The community awaits to fully understand how something of this alleged nature could have occurred within the spaces considered safe for its youngest members.
