A Lynnwood home was engulfed in flames Sunday afternoon, leading to the death of a local woman and causing smoke inhalation injuries to a man.
The victim, identified by neighbors and relatives as a grandmother of seven, has left behind a grieving family. Amidst the billowing smoke and the embers of the domestic hearth, these kin had to abruptly contend with a loss magnified by the quickness with which it came, according to a report by KIRO 7.
Efforts to rescue the inhabitants of the home were severely hindered when the structure's first floor collapsed. The severity of the fire quickly elevated the incident to a scene of desperation. South County Fire spokesperson was not able to comment on the relationship between the two victims because of privacy laws, as detailed in an article by KOMO News.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
