
Police are currently investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred earlier today outside Room One Hundred, a restaurant in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. According to police, an unidentified assailant drove up to the establishment on Jamaica Avenue and began shooting at around 12:09 a.m., as ABC7NY reported. A 35-year-old man was critically injured after being shot in the head, and he was subsequently rushed to Brookdale University Hospital by first responders.
Details about the precipitating factors of the shooting remain unclear, and no motive has been established. In an incident that underscores the city’s ongoing struggle with gun violence, the New York Daily News notes that two shell casings were found at the scene, the shooter has yet to be apprehended, and, the vehicle described as a black Ford sedan disappeared into the night after the incident.
Authorities have not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting, and it remains uncertain if the injured man was specifically targeted. As the investigation continues, the police are asking anyone with information to come forward. The incident has heightened concerns among local residents about safety in the neighborhood, especially considering that officers indicated as many as 13 shots were fired during the event.
