According to police, an unidentified assailant drove up to the establishment on Jamaica Avenue and began shooting at around 12:09 a.m., as ABC7NY reported. A 35-year-old man was critically injured after being shot in the head, and he was subsequently rushed to Brookdale University Hospital by first responders.
Details about the precipitating factors of the shooting remain unclear, and no motive has been established. In an incident that underscores the city’s ongoing struggle with gun violence, the New York Daily News notes that two shell casings were found at the scene, the shooter has yet to be apprehended, and, the vehicle described as a black Ford sedan disappeared into the night after the incident.
