A standoff that turned fatal occurred at the Vantage Point Inn in Woodland Hills late Sunday night culminating in the death of a man after an hours-long barricade situation involving local law enforcement. The incident unfolded along the 21700 block of Ventura Boulevard as the Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday of a man armed with a gun, according to NBC Los Angeles.
As reported by FOX LA, the suspect's actions prompted calls from guests at the motel, and when officers arrived, they soon encountered the armed individual, following which a shooting occurred, though the sequence of events leading up to the gunfire remains unclear. After which the man reportedly ran back inside the motel only to be discovered later by officers, suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been disclosed.
No officers or bystanders were reported injured during the incident, as detailed by CBS News Los Angeles.
