The Bexar County Medical Examiner's office has identified 53-year-old Gabino DeLaCerda as the man shot and killed during an argument on a homeowner's property west of downtown San Antonio. DeLaCerda suffered a fatal gunshot wound to his abdomen, and his death has been declared a homicide, as detailed in a report by KSAT.
According to officials, an altercation occurred just after 7 p.m. on Saturday in the 1900 block of San Fernando Street which escalated after DeLaCerda, who was acquainted with the homeowner, refused to leave the property, this altercation ultimately led to the shooting, San Antonio police say. DeLaCerda was found by officers with a gunshot would to his chest lying on the sidewalk, and he later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, as detailed by KSAT.
Details of the confrontation were scarce, but a preliminary San Antonio Police Department report mentions that a verbal argument progressed to physical confrontation; at some point during the conflict, the homeowner discharged a firearm, striking DeLaCerda once in the chest, further information about the altercation or what might have specifically provoked the conflict has not been released as of now.
