A concerning incident unfolded in Brooklyn Park earlier this week when a man with autism went missing from the Community Activity Center at 5600 85th Ave N. The disappearance, which occurred on December 5th, around 5:44 pm, prompted an earnest search by local authorities. Just over an hour later, the individual was found, enduring what was described as a medical emergency.
The Brooklyn Park Police Department, assisted by the Brooklyn Park Fire Department, launched a search operation that spanned the vicinity of the initial report. Residents of the neighborhood watched as officials scoured the area, bringing to bear the collective effort of the community and those sworn to protect them. According to an official alert, at around 7:18 pm, officers received a call about a male matching the description of the missing person on the 4300 block of Edinbrook Terrace N.
Authorities quickly responded to the scene, confirming that the individual was indeed the man they were seeking. Officers immediately provided emergency aid until Emergency Medical Services arrived to take over the care of the man. He was subsequently transported to an area hospital, where he was expected to recover.
Representative of the Brooklyn Park Police Department offered reassurances that the man, whose identity remains private out of respect for his and his family's privacy, was "expected to be ok." This incident, while distressing, illustrates a successful emergency response in our local area.
