A fatal collision occurred on the icy expanse of U.S. Highway 40 near Fraser, Colorado, claiming the life of a Maryland man and injuring four others. This tragic event unfolded early Thursday morning when a pickup truck, struggling for traction on the frostbitten road, spun into an oncoming semi-truck.
The Fraser Winter Park Police Department reported that around 9:25 a.m. the eastbound Toyota Tundra, driven by a 37-year-old man from Aurora, spiraled out of control and veered into the path of a westbound semi. The 29-year-old victim from Bethesda, Maryland, perished at the scene, while others suffered varying degrees of injury, as reported by Denver7 and The Denver Post.
Among the injured, a female passenger's condition remains critical, the police confirmed. The 34-year-old semi-truck driver, hailing from Lochbuie, was unscathed. The back of his vehicle carried a fuel tanker, which remarkably escaped compromise, averting a potentially hazardous chemical spill, as obtained by OutThere Colorado.
