Maui Public Transit Boost, Lahaina Villager Route Restores Bus Stops to Aid Commuters Post-WildfireSource: Facebook/County of Maui

Starting December 17, the Lahaina Villager bus route will restore six stops that were removed after the August 2023 wildfire. These include stops at Ainakea Road at Malolo Place, near Ainakea Park, and Lahainaluna Road at Kuhua Street, as reported by the County of Maui.

A new bus stop has been added on Ainakea Road near Fleming Road to serve residents of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Kilohana temporary housing project. According to the County of Maui, this stop provides easier access to public transit, helping improve connectivity for the community as it recovers from the recent wildfires.

Updated bus schedules are available on the County of Maui website, and real-time bus tracking can be accessed through the Maui Bus app for iOS and Android. Fares are $2 per boarding, with a $4 daily pass and monthly passes available. Some riders qualify for fare-free service.
