A McAlester resident has entered a guilty plea for an assault charge involving a dangerous weapon, according to the Eastern District of Oklahoma's U.S. Attorney's Office. Larry Keith Mickle, 49, was indicted for an attack that took place on June 18, in Pittsburg County within the boundaries of the Choctaw Nation Reservation.
The plea resolves accusations that Mickle assaulted a victim with the intent to cause bodily harm, using a weapon to carry out the action. The case emerged from joint investigative efforts by the local Sheriff's Office and federal authorities. This collaboration between the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation highlights, a continual partnership aiming to address violent crimes within the region.
The district's magistrate judge, D. Edward Snow, has accepted the guilty plea and commissioned a presentence investigation report. Official court records obtained by the Justice Department indicate that Mickle, pending the sentencing phase, will be detained by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Mickle's representation came from Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael E. Robinson who was the face of the federal government in this case. The U.S. Attorney's Office has not yet released details on when the sentencing will occur.
