Amidst a string of break-ins, the Metropolitan Police Department is on the lookout for suspects involved in a series of thefts from vehicles in the First District. According to information released by the MPD, the first incident was reported on Friday, December 20, when at around 8:41 a.m., officers were called to the scene of a vehicle burglary on the Unit block of K Street, Northeast where property had been stolen.

The suspects seemingly continued their spree, and a mere half hour later, another vehicle was reported broken into at the 400 block of 12th Street, Northeast, where suspects fled the scene in a Red Ford Explorer after obtaining valuables. The MPD has logged these incidents under case numbers CCN: 24196624 and CCN: 24196639, respectively.

In what appears to be a related offence, the MPD was alerted at approximately 9:37 a.m. the same day to a vehicle on the 200 block of D Street, Southeast, with a shattered window, though it remains unclear whether the suspects were able to pilfer any items (CCN: 24196655).

The Metropolitan Police Department is rallying the community for assistance to identify and locate the individuals behind these crimes. A reward of up to $1,000 has been offered for any information that leads to an arrest and indictment in these cases. The police have requested anyone with knowledge of these incidents to "take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411," as outlined in their public statement.
