As Milton City Council prepares for its meeting tomorrow, the agenda is loaded with pivotal discussions from bridge replacements to continuing a moratorium in the Deerfield area. Among the routine items on the consent agenda, the Council is set to approve the minutes from November 18, finalize various agreements including one for HVAC maintenance services, and continue a relationship with Senior Services North Fulton, as per the municipal government's website. The HVAC agreement with Maxair Mechanical, LLC will ensure proper upkeep and emergency services for city buildings.
The forthcoming meeting, announced on Milton's official website, also includes a presentation by the Georgia Department of Transportation regarding two potential bridge replacements over Little River. The financial engagement from the city for these replacements is under scrutiny, including that of Clarity Road and Hickory Flat Road bridges which span the bordering Cherokee County.
In a public hearing scheduled during the meeting, Brooklyn Joe's Pizza is expected to have its application for an alcohol beverage license deliberated upon. This comes after significant community concern on the establishment's location at 13065 Highway 9 North. Additionally, a central piece of discussion is the consideration of extending the moratorium for Deerfield/Highway 9 area through February 3, 2025. This pause affects the acceptance of applications for zoning-related approvals and coincides with the city's efforts to foster a comprehensive Deerfield Implementation Plan and Design Guide Manual.
Fulfilling its commitment to public service and the well-being of its first responders, the Council will deliberate on a resolution adding the City of Milton to Georgia Interlocal Risk Management Agency (GIRMA)'s fund. In a move applauded by advocates for first responder mental health, this allows compliance with a new state law regarding PTSD coverage for emergency personnel, slated to take effect January 1, 2025. In addition, a revised plat for the Lyndon Creek subdivision is up for another vote following a previous amendment recorded in September 2021, which led to resizing of lots and modification of the gated entrance.
