The Denton County community exhaled a collective sigh of relief as the Denton County Sheriff's Office took to social media to announce that Brandon Strawn had been found safe. The young man, described as an autistic person with the mental age of a 5 to 10-year-old, was reported missing earlier this week. According to the Denton County Sheriff's Office, "UPDATE (7:10 p.m.) | Brandon has been located SAFE. Thank you as always for your dedication to the community."
Brandon, who stands at 5'11" and weighs 170 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes, was last seen on the evening of Monday around South Fork Mobile Home Park, near South Loop 288 in Denton, Texas. Carrying a flashlight, he left his residence between 10:00 and 10:15 p.m., his way lit in the dark by the humble beam. The Denton County Sheriff's Office reported that he was wearing a dark blue jacket, gray sweatpants, and black shoes at the time of his disappearance.
The urgency to locate Brandon was heightened due to his autism and the associated vulnerabilities it brings. It is not uncommon for individuals with autism to wander or elope, a scenario that often requires prompt community and law enforcement response to ensure their safety.
