The Hawai'i Police Department has confirmed the safe location of 84-year-old Carol Ann Lau of Hilo, who had been missing since Monday evening. Originally reported as endangered and missing, Lau was found in good health in Hilo on Tuesday morning. In a brief update, the Hawai’i Police Department extended its gratitude to the community members for their vital role in assisting with the successful outcome of the investigation. 

Lau, a 5'6" Caucasian woman weighing about 160 pounds, had caused concern among local residents and authorities. The community responded by distributing flyers and sharing information to help find her. The Hawaii Police Department asked the public to come forward with any information about her whereabouts, according to a report by Hoodline earlier this week.

The search efforts clearly delineate a portrait of a tight-knit community, albeit in distress, coming together to support one of their own. "The Hawai’i Police Department would like to thank the community for their assistance in this investigation," the Hawai’i Police Department said in their recent update.
