
A tragic collision in Burke County claimed the life of a local man and injured two others yesterday evening. According to QC News, the accident involved a 2005 Chrysler 300 and a 1975 Ford dump truck near the intersection of US 64 and Fisher Davis Road in Morganton, North Carolina. The driver of the Chrysler, identified as 64-year-old Danny Lee Scott, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Danny Lee Scott's vehicle was reportedly navigating southbound along Fisher Davis Road and attempted to make a left turn onto US 64 when it collided with the oncoming dump truck. WBTV disclosed that Scott's wife, who was a passenger in the Chrysler, sustained serious injuries and was transported to UNC Health Blue Ridge for treatment. The driver of the dump truck, a 59-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to an a local hospital.
Following the accident, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol conducted an investigation which revealed that neither impairment nor speed seemed to be contributing factors in the devastating event. As recorded by WSOC-TV, no charges are expected to be filed in relation to this incident.
Authorities closed the roadway for approximately two hours as troopers and emergency services worked at the scene.
