A tragic collision in Charlotte's Westover Division has claimed the life of a motorcyclist this past Thursday. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating the fatal incident, which involved a 2004 Ducati motorcycle and a 2024 Jeep Compass on South Boulevard.
According to the preliminary reports, the motorcycle, driven by 36-year-old Aaron Thomas McPherson Jr., was headed south at a significant pace. The Jeep was executing a left turn into a parking lot when McPherson's Ducati made contact with the vehicle, which resulted in him being thrown from his motorcycle. Although the speed at which McPherson was travelling is suspected to have been a contributing factor, it remains unclear whether impairment played any role in the crash.
MEDIC personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced Mr. McPherson deceased due to the injuries he sustained. The driver of the Jeep Compass escaped the incident without injury, whereas McPherson's next of kin have been informed of the unfortunate loss.
