A tragic end came for a 30-year-old motorcyclist nearly a year after a collision in the southwest Las Vegas Valley that initially left him hospitalized. The Nov. 18, 2023 crash, occurred at the intersection of South Durango Drive and Starboard Drive, involving a speeding motorcycle and a vehicle attempting a left turn, as reported by FOX5 Vegas.
According to a report by FOX5 Vegas, the motorcyclist was riding a 2004 Yamaha R6 when he collided with a black 2013 Nissan Versa. The incident was severe enough that despite almost a year of grappling with injuries, the victim succumbed to blunt force trauma on Nov. 17. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department suggested that excessive speed by the motorcycle was a contributing factor.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene of the crash back in November 2023. In a statement obtained by 8 News Now, police detailed that the motorcyclist collided with the front right of the Nissan as it turned, resulting in the rider being ejected onto nearby plant life. The driver of the Nissan, while sustaining minor injuries, showed no signs of impairment at the scene.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office informed the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department of the rider's death last Wednesday, marking an end to the narrative of a collision that not only claimed a life but serves as a sober reminder of the dangers that lie in the mix of speed and urban traffic. The identities of the individuals involved were not disclosed in the reports by both FOX5 Vegas and 8 News Now.
