Mount Pleasant has become the scene of a rather severe incident involving a father and son duo who dramatically escalated what might have been a personal dispute into a public threat. According to a report by WPXI, 70-year-old Paul Caletri Jr. and his 30-year-old son, Paul Caletri III, have been charged with a list of offenses, including aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment of another person, and reckless driving after allegedly firing gunshots at another man while chasing him through the streets.
In an unusual situation that police are still trying to figure out, the Caletris allegedly confronted the unnamed victim at his home on Bridgeport Street. The victim says Caletri III pointed a shotgun at him and threatened his life. Fearing for his safety, the man drove away in his truck, but the father and son followed him and tried to force him off the road.
The chase continued through Mount Pleasant, with the level of danger escalating as the Caletris reportedly took turns ramming the man's vehicle. The victim's escape was dramatic, climbing out of his truck through a window and seeking refuge in a nearby gas station, where he implored the clerk to contact the authorities. The District Attorney's Office said no injuries resulted from this perilous altercation.
State troopers managed to rapidly locate Paul Caletri III, who, according to WTAE's coverage, admitted to having discharged his shotgun twice during the chase. He was incarcerated at Westmoreland County Prison while his father was released.
