The Metropolitan Police Department recently made an arrest in connection to a burglary that unfolded last Friday, at an establishment located in the Unit block of O Street, Northwest. It is reported that the suspect gained entry forcibly around 5:00 a.m., and proceeded to quickly make off with property, leaving behind a trail of evidence picked up by a surveillance camera in the vicinity.
The footage provided by the surveillance was soon released to the public, which seems to have been pivotal in closing this case rapidly. By the following day, officers from the Third District managed to not only spot but also arrest the suspect. This was confirmed by the Metropolitan Police Department, disclosing the identity of the suspect as 58-year-old Norman Willis of Southeast, DC, who now faces a charge of Burglary Two.
Although details about the stolen property or its value have not been released, the quick apprehension of the suspect emphasizes the effectiveness of neighborhood surveillance systems and the role of community vigilance. The MPD has not disclosed any further information on the possible motive or whether Willis has any prior history related to similar crimes.
