A tragic incident unfolded in New Tampa yesterday evening when two men died in what the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is describing as a murder-suicide. Reporting to a 911 call made around 6:30 p.m., deputies arrived on the scene at a residence on Royal Forest Drive to discover 67-year-old Steven Glantz with multiple gunshot wounds, as recounted by WTSP. Glantz was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
In the wake of this violent act, authorities closely scrutinized surveillance footage from the neighborhood. According to ABC Action News, it revealed a male figure approaching Glantz's home shortly before the sound of shots fired rang out and then possessing to leave on foot shortly after. A subsequent search by deputies, aided by K-9 units, led to the discovery of 66-year-old Timothy Lobianco in the vicinity. Lobianco was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The relationship between the two men was further clarified by officials who shared that the deceased individuals were, indeed, neighbors. However, the precise motive that led to this violent confrontation between them remains to be unraveled. As the community grapples with this shocking event, Sheriff Chad Chronister expressed his consternation, stating, "Our hearts go out to the victim’s family during this unimaginable loss," according to a FOX 13 News report. "This tragic event serves as a painful reminder of the devastating effects of senseless violence on our community."
The sheriff emphasized the seriousness of the incident and his office's dedication to helping the bereaved, stating, "HCSO is committed to supporting the grieving families as they navigate this incredibly difficult time," as per FOX 13 News.
