New York City is in for several rainy days, with temperatures ranging from the 40s to 50s. According to the National Weather Service, Manhattan will reach a high near 40 degrees today, with rain beginning after 1 a.m. and a 90% chance of precipitation continuing through Monday. Brooklyn’s forecast is largely the same, with similar temperatures and rain expected to start after 1 a.m.
Queens and The Bronx will see nearly identical conditions, with the former peaking at a high near 50 degrees on Monday, and the latter rising to around 49 degrees. Staten Island's forecast details slightly warmer weather, reaching a high near 43 today. Navigating through this incoming weather, the probability of rain remains at a resolute 90% to 100% for the start of the week across the five boroughs.
As we advance through the week, all areas anticipate a clearing by Tuesday afternoon, suggesting some respite from the persistent rainfall. The brief interlude of clearer skies will not last long, however, as the likelihood of rain returns by Wednesday afternoon. While no hazardous weather is expected that would meet the National Weather Service's warning criteria, Staten Island is bracing for a 100% chance of rain tonight, which is comparatively higher than its mainland counterparts.
Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island are all set to experience a period of similar weather, though with some differences in wind chill and temperature. In a separate advisory, nearby areas have been placed under a winter weather warning, with some expected to deploy spotters due to the possibility of hazardous travel conditions early Monday morning.
The weather over the next few days, through to Saturday, will continue to include a wintry mix, with forecasts predicting a blend of rain and snow for many areas later in the week. The forecast highlights the variability of New York’s weather, which remains unpredictable and subject to change.
