Wharton County residents were shaken on Thursday afternoon by severe weather, including at least one tornado near El Campo. The tornado was spotted near Highway 59 and FM 960, based on reports from locals to the Wharton County Sheriff's Office, as reported by Click2Houston.
A tornado touched down in a non-residential area, causing damage to three nearby farms. No injuries have been reported. The tornado warning, issued just after 2 p.m., has now expired, and residents are assessing the impact. "Authorities say no injuries were reported, but three farms in a non-residential area did receive damage," as stated by Click2Houston.
FOX26 Houston covered the damage caused by a tornado in a local farming community. Reid Strnadel saw a video of the storm and realized, "That looks like our place!" His family farm lost a barn roof and a wall from another building, but he was relieved, saying, "Its a lot of cleanup, but luckily no cows or bulls in the pen and no crops in the field. It could have been worse." Nearby, Ryan witnessed the storm's power when he said, "All of a sudden the roof gets lifted off the forklift." He added, "It makes you feel small, it's kind of a big deal to be so close to something so powerful."
