Oahu residents can expect dry and stable weather with light winds and gentle sea and land breezes through midweek. The National Weather Service in Honolulu predicts this pattern will continue until Thursday, when a cold front is expected to bring rain and moderate to breezy northeast winds.
"Upper air soundings from early this morning at Hilo and Lihue confirm these conditions with temperature inversion heights around 5000 to 5500 feet and precipitable water values only near an inch." On Wednesday, there may be some more sea breeze showers, but the forecast for next weekend is unclear due to conflicting models. Trade winds will stay steady this week, and pilots can expect typical daytime clouds and clear skies at night, especially on the west and northwest slopes. No AIRMETs are planned, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Boaters and surfers can expect south to southeast winds until mid-week, when they will switch to northeasterly. Swells from the north and west will keep the surf elevated, with "Surf heights are thus anticipated to peak near advisory levels Tuesday then hold just below advisory levels through Wednesday," according to the National Weather Service. Later in the week, conditions may lead to advisories. For fire weather, there are no critical risks, and no fire weather advisories are expected as rainfall increases by the weekend.
