An off-duty Las Vegas Metropolitan police officer and another man were killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 15 near Valley of Fire State Park on Thursday, just before 12:30 a.m. A woman also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital, as stated by 8 News Now.

According to News 3LV, Trooper Shawn Haggstrom of the Nevada State Police said investigators believe the wrong-way driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, causing a crash with at least one other vehicle. The impact of the collision resulted in the deaths of two people at the scene.

All northbound lanes of I-15 at Mile Marker 75, near the Valley of Fire Exit, are closed due to a crash. Drivers are being rerouted through Valley of Fire Road or U.S. 93. The southbound lanes are open. There is no estimated time for reopening the northbound lanes. Drivers heading north can use U.S. 93 and then take State Route 168 to get back to I-15. The investigation is ongoing, and more details will be released later, as reported by 8 News Now.
