On the early hours of Wednesday, a robbery unfolded at Circle K Gas Station on North Ventura Avenue in Ojai, as announced through a news release by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. The suspect, 32-year-old Fidencio Ramirez of Ojai, allegedly made off with cigarettes and alcohol after brandishing a knife towards an employee. The incident, which occurred at approximately 2:54 AM, led to an immediate police response and pursuit.
Authorities were quickly able to locate Ramirez driving near the Circle K and tried to decisively stop his vehicle. Ramirez however chose to not comply, igniting a chase. "Sheriff’s Dispatch put out a description of Ramirez and his vehicle shortly after the crime occurred," stated Detective Joseph Sharif in the release. The pursuit was short-lived, as deputies managed to successfully apprehend Ramirez. It was reported that neither the deputies nor Ramirez sustained injuries during the incident.
The suspect was found with the stolen goods in his car and subsequently arrested. Ramirez faces allegations of robbery under California Penal Code 211, recklessly evading police under Vehicle Code 2800.2, and a parole violation. He was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, with bail set at $100,000, as detailed by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
