An incident unfolded last night when a carjacking turned fatal at Townwood Park in southwest Houston. As reported by KPRC 2, at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Simsbrook Drive, close to Buffalo Speedway, three men were accosted by assailants whose number remains unknown. A confrontation escalated when the attackers endeavored to hijack a 2004 white Ford Expedition, during which gunfire erupted.
One victim succumbed to his injuries while another has been hospitalized in stable condition. According to the same source, witnesses at the scene were detained, though the charges and the precise number of those held were not detailed by Houston PD Lt. Riley. The white Expedition was confirmed as stolen.
Further confirming the incident, FOX 26 Houston stated that an investigation is underway after the incident occurred just before 9 p.m. The shootout reportedly followed a physical altercation when the suspects shot at the victims, according to authorities.
