According to a media release from the Columbus Division of Police, the accident occurred yesterday, at approximately 4:36 p.m., when an adult male, driving a 2008 Buick Lacrosse, veered into oncoming traffic for reasons yet to be determined.
The Buick initially collided with a 2011 Mercedes-Benz, causing minor damage before traveling northbound in the southbound lanes erroneously, ultimately striking a 2015 Nissan Altima head-on. The adult female driver of the Mercedes-Benz was confirmed not to have been injured in the crash. Both the male driver of the Buick and the female driver of the Nissan were transported to Riverside Hospital in critical condition, where the man was later pronounced dead by the medical staff at 8:48 PM, as stated in the Columbus Division of Police report.
