A fatal multi-vehicle collision in Pine Grove has claimed the life of one individual and injured several others on Monday afternoon. The incident, involving four cars, occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Toyon Road and Highway 88, according to declarations by the Amador Fire Protection District, referenced by ABC10.
Five patients were reported at the scene of the crash, with injuries varying from minor to major. One person was trapped in the wreckage and was extracted but later pronounced dead at the scene. Two others with serious injuries were taken to a local hospital in Jackson. The remaining two patients, who had minor injuries, refused transport, as reported by ABC10.
The KCRA stated that a Buick was driving west when an eastbound Toyota swerved into its lane and hit it. The Toyota then collided with a Nissan, which pushed into a Honda. The Toyota flipped over, and the 70-year-old driver from Volcano was thrown out and later died. The people in the Nissan had moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital. The Buick passengers had minor injuries but didn't go to the hospital. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
