Officials have disclosed, that one man was shot and another person was injured in the chaos that ensued, though their condition has not yet been made public. The confrontation appeared to coincide with or near a small grocery store situated within a strip mall in the area. According to KTLA, the LAPD has not released the condition of the victim who was shot.
Following the event, a sizeable police contingent cordoned off the vicinity as evidenced by video footage from NewsChopper4. In the aftermath, a handgun was discovered in front of a white Hyundai car at the site, hinting at the violence that had unfolded. This led to, at least two people being rushed to a hospital though it remains unconfirmed if their injuries were due to gunfire, as the LAPD indicated to NBC Los Angeles. Details about the suspected shooter, who is now in custody, remain scant, with descriptions limited to a man in his mid-20s to early 30s.
The situation escalated to the point where a nearby elementary school was forced into lockdown as a precautionary measure.
