Clackamas County District Attorney John Wentworth has reached out to the Oregon Department of Justice to assume the investigation and prosecution of David Farley, a former West Linn doctor accused of numerous acts of sexual abuse. The request to Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, sent this Wednesday, presses for a second look into allegations that have cast shadows over the once-trusted medical professional.

In his letter, Wentworth highlighted the need for a thorough review by the state's Justice Department, "(T)he allegations brought forth by these patients are deeply troubling and warrant a second review I believe a comprehensive review by your office, coupled with the trust you have developed with the plaintiffs’ attorneys and their clients, may provide the opportunity needed to move forward," as his office told Clackamas County News. A Clackamas County grand jury had previously issued a ‘not true’ bill against Farley in 2022, which ended without an indictment due to insufficient evidence under the law at that time.

Wentworth has stayed front and center in the fight to close the legal loophole that has historically protected sex abusers under the guise of medical practice. In 2023, he led the charge for Senate Bill 974, effectively altering Oregon's sexual abuse laws. This pivotal legislation, which was passed with unanimous approval in the Oregon Legislature, now challenges previous barricades that protected abusers from disguising criminal activities behind medical diagnoses or treatments.
