Orlando Police were reported to have been involved in a shooting incident that left a 26-year-old man dead following a domestic disturbance call in The Willows neighborhood, more specifically on Shining Willow Terrace, as per information from the Orlando Police Department, WESH reported.
The situation unfolded late Monday night when officers arrived on the scene after being called out for a loud disturbance heard by neighbors with the OPD making contact with an armed suspect outside the residence, who, according to Police Chief Eric Smith in a statement detailed by WESH, jumped a fence and attempted escape, refusing verbal commands by the responding team and resulted in police discharging their Tasers, the gun fell out of his pocket. Still, despite this, he retrieved and aimed to grab the firearm.
According to WESH, it was at this point that the officers, seeing the immediate threat, discharged their weapons, striking the man who was later pronounced dead after life-saving measures failed. The identity of the suspect has yet to be released, but what is known is that he was a convicted felon with a recent arrest record, including charges of domestic violence and battery against a law enforcement officer.
