Orlando police ended a domestic disturbance call with fatal results last night, as officers fatally shot a man identified as Timothy Woods in The Willows neighborhood near Pine Hills.

WFTV reported that the incident occurred close to 9:15 p.m. on Shining Willow Terrace. The Orlando Police Department (OPD) arrived somewhat earlier at the scene at 9:13 p.m., after they were called out to the 2800 block following at least three complaints about a loud disturbance. The sequence of events quickly escalated after the confrontation.

According to Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith, a woman inside the home was initially contacted; shortly thereafter, they encountered Woods outside, who then hurdled a fence and attempted to escape, refusing verbal commands by the officers, which led the law enforcement to employ their Tasers in an attempt to contain the situation.

According to WESH, the suspect's gun fell from his pocket. When Woods removed the Taser prongs and reached for the weapon, officers fired their guns. Despite attempts to save him, Woods was pronounced dead at the scene. Smith noted Woods was a convicted felon with a history of domestic violence and resisting law enforcement, including a recent November arrest. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and OPD are investigating the incident.
