The driver, identified as 26-year-old Alyssa Winters, was in a 2016 Lexus IS traveling southbound when the vehicle struck a woman who was in the process of crossing the street. According to ClickOrlando, the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident. After the impact, the injured woman was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

WESH reported that after the collision, Winters stayed at the scene and was later arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol for driving under the influence. Troopers have noted that Winters did not sustain injuries in the crash.
