In a move aimed at bolstering regional mobility and spurring economic growth in Osceola County, the Board of County Commissioners has given the green light to purchase a significant plot of land dedicated to the new Cross Prairie Parkway. The transaction involves around 323 acres of land currently held by D.R. Horton Incorporated and constitutes a strategic component of the parkway's construction. It serves a dual purpose by supporting transportation and stormwater management infrastructure.
With a $17.3 million price tag, the land acquisition underscores the County's prioritization of infrastructure and economic development, especially within District 4—an area anticipated to experience substantial industrial expansion as a result. The improved accessibility and connectivity promised by the parkway are expected to magnetize new business ventures, positioning the County as a promising destination for business investment.
Commission Chairwoman Viviana Janer underscored the significance of the purchase, stating, "This purchase is a crucial step in improving our infrastructure and fostering economic growth," in remarks detailed by Osceola County press release. She elaborated on the parkway's anticipated impact: "The Cross Prairie Parkway will enhance transportation, attract new businesses, and create jobs, strengthening our local economy."
