A traffic incident on Hawaii Island left a 19-year-old man from Pahoa in critical condition last Sunday. The collision occurred around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway and Kiholo Bay. The victim's Dodge pickup was struck by a Ford pickup truck, as reported by Hawaii News Now.
The investigation indicates that the young man was making a left turn when his vehicle was struck by an oncoming Ford, driven by a 21-year-old from Kamuela. The 19-year-old was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital and later transferred by medevac to the Queen's Medical Center on Oahu for advanced care, where he remains in critical condition, as stated by Big Island Now.
An 18-year-old female passenger in a Dodge pickup was taken to the hospital but later released. The driver of a Ford and his 19-year-old female passenger were not injured. Police are still investigating and haven't identified the young man in critical condition.
