Community spirit and festive lights adorned the Intracoastal waters as St. Johns County celebrated its annual Palm Valley Boat Parade last Saturday. Reflecting a strong community commitment, Chair Krista Joseph of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners was among the several attendees enjoying the holiday event with her family. This tradition showcases decorated boats and illuminated docks along a seven-mile stretch.

The parade, a collaborative effort between Parks & Recreation and the Palm Valley Community Association, received unanimous support from the Board of County Commissioners, including a financial enhancement of $5,000 to the Parks & Recreation operating budget. This boost facilitated amenities like free shuttle services, safety lighting, additional portable restrooms, and trash cans. “The goal, from the County’s perspective, is to assist in making this already-great event accessible for the larger community beyond those with direct Intracoastal access,” Parks and Recreation Director Ryan Kane told the press.

Not just a visual spectacle, the event also catered to diverse tastes with various food trucks and the sound of Christmas music under the Palm Valley Bridge. The public had the added comfort of bleachers for viewing the parade, ensuring that the experience was both comfortable and joyful for all attendees.
