
A man was struck by a Honda Accord on East Charleston Boulevard early on November 30. The incident occurred around 3:42 a.m., west of North Moonlight Drive. The 40-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was walking outside of a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating.
The initial investigation showed that 59-year-old Jeffery Watkins of Las Vegas was driving a Honda when he was behind another vehicle that began to slow down. Watkins then moved into the middle lane, where his car struck a man. The man was taken to University Medical Center's Trauma Unit by ambulance. Watkins remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
On Monday, the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner confirmed that the person injured in an accident has died. This is the 151st traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2024. The case is now being investigated by the Collision Investigation Section-Fatal Detail. The driver, Watkins, was in a 2015 Honda Accord and has been cooperating with authorities. Investigators are still looking into the details of the incident.
