Philadelphia authorities are calling on the public for assistance to identify a suspect in a recent firearm theft. The individual in question was captured on surveillance footage after allegedly stealing a black adidas duffle bag that contained a firearm and an extra magazine, among other personal items. The Philadelphia Police Department released images and a video of the suspect, hoping to gather information from the community that could lead to recovery of the stolen items and apprehension of the suspect.
The incident occurred on the 9xx block of Market Street inside an unnamed establishment on December 14, 2024, at around 6:19 PM. The victim, a 27-year-old male placed his belongings in a room, and upon returning at about 8:00 PM, realized they were missing. The surveillance footage, later retrieved by detectives, showed an "unknown white male entering then exited the building with his black adidas duffle bag," as stated by the Philadelphia Police Department. Additionally, it is believed that the suspect is an unhoused person who is known to the area.
The police have not released additional details about the suspect besides his depiction in the video. Anyone who can provide information that leads to the recovery of the stolen items or arrest of the individual shown in the surveillance footage is encouraged to come forward.
