
A 19-year-old man, Shyd Carr-Hanks, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old William Honesty Jr., who was found dead outside Martin Luther King High School in the East Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia on September 22. NBC Philadelphia reported Carr-Hanks, a resident of East Germantown, has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm without a license, and related offenses.
The incident initially unfolded when Philadelphia police officers responded to the 5900 block of Stenton Avenue after 11:30 p.m. on a report of an unconscious person. Upon their arrival, they discovered Honesty with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, he was pronounced dead at the scene barely 15 minutes later at 11:46 p.m., as detailed by CBS News Philadelphia. Carr-Hanks was taken into custody on Wednesday, and "police said they did recover a weapon."
William Honesty Jr. was not enrolled as a student within the School District of Philadelphia, yet he lived only a short distance from the school where his body was found by a passerby, as per 6ABC.
