The spirit of giving was vibrantly alive in Phoenix this Christmas Day, with the Salvation Army pulling off a major feat serving up holiday cheer and meals for thousands. As reported by ABC15, over 1,000 volunteers gathered at the Phoenix Convention Center to distribute 6,000 meals to individuals and families during a time of sharing and community.

It's not solely about food, as the volunteers also provided free haircuts, photos with Santa, and live music, contributing to the atmosphere of a festive gathering. AZFamily detailed the event further by describing how guests were greeted, treating them like "royalty" standing in line, waiting to receive what for many was a much-needed meal.

According to the Salvation Army, pulling off this grand event took 1,700 pounds of turkey, 1,000 pounds of mashed potatoes, and 700 pounds of vegetables, as per ABC15. Their efforts were aimed at ensuring no one missed out on the quintessential Christmas experience of a hearty meal amid the festivities.

For some families, events like these are a lifeline during tough times. “It makes it possible for us to have dinner together,”  Slack said. “Sometimes we can’t afford food, so this makes it easier to have meal on Christmas.”in a statement captured by AZFamily.
