Violence has once again pierced the relative calm of a Pittsburgh neighborhood. On Thursday evening, gunfire erupted in Homewood, prompting Pittsburgh Police to respond to an automated alert of multiple gunshots. According to a public statement released by the City of Pittsburgh, officers were dispatched after a ShotSpotter picked up a seven-round sequence in the 500 block of N. Homewood Ave.
The aftermath of the shooting saw the discovery of an injured male victim in his early 30s on N. Murtland Street, some blocks away. EMTs rushed him to a local hospital where, fortunately, his condition was stabilized.
Crime Scene Unit detectives carefully gathered evidence at the shooting scene, helping to understand what happened, while the Violent Crime Unit led the ongoing investigation.
